Balance.
A universal beauty showed its face;
The enchantments that uphold the cosmic web
and the magic underlying simple shapes.
-Sri Aurobindo Ghose (1850-1950)
I started out going through and reading the recommended books by Dale Speedy the founder of Contact C.A.R.E, to enable me to be better at my practice of helping others in clinic.
This lead me to the book - A beginners Guide to Constructing the Universe, The Mathematical Archetypes of Nature, Art and Science by Michael Schneider.
It looks at the mathematical principles made visible in nature and the human body, expressed through language, folk saying, fairy tales, myth, religion, art and architecture.
Geometry existed before creation - Plato
On another day I crossed the road and found friend Chris O’Connor at the park across from my house setting up an installation of geometric sculptures for the community.
The serendipitous occasion gave rise to me asking Chris to lend me his Dodecahedron sculpture he had made (Greek for “two plus ten faces”) it is a three-dimensional pentagonal web on which life expresses its fullness, it was a perfect addition to the themes of the project.
I looked and found we encounter dodecahedra in a twelve month desk calendar and the pentagram can be seen in the centre of an apple, a starfish, the stretching of the human body, a human hand, a footprint, a cats face and the entrance of a Wharenui and home.
